Why Choose Electromechanical Locking Systems
For thousands of years, mechanical locks and keys have been ensuring access to property and assets. In the past ten years, between the new development of technology and the demand for higher security, there have been many advances in access control technology, making mechanical locks and keys safer than ever. However, even with all the new technological advancements, mechanical locks and keys still have some loopholes.
The electromechanical system proved to be the best combination of traditional mechanical lock and traditional key card access control system. They enable end users to control their own systems, electronically change access rights to any lock cylinder or key on site and obtain audit information, thereby empowering end users. Installation is as simple as replacing the existing mechanical lock cylinder with an electronic lock cylinder. The end result is a fast and affordable increase in security, security, and key control.
Compared with traditional locks and keys, electromechanical access control systems have many advantages.
- Smart key cannot be copied.
- The electronic lock does not have a key slot that can be pried or knocked.
- Both the lock and the key will allow access and deny access events to be recorded in the memory.
- The key can be programmed according to time, date and permission level, so only authorized users can access.
These electromechanical systems usually have three main components: electronic locks, smart keys, and management software. Each of these components provides specific functions within the system to improve safety and accountability.
The electronic lock cylinder replaces the standard mechanical lock cylinder and does not require wiring, power supply or batteries. The lock stores all access events in the memory, permits and denies, and can be queried in case the key is lost or stolen.
The smart key stores the user’s access control permissions and information about which locks the user has accessed or tried to access.
The management software drives the entire system. The software provides a wide range of management requirements to accommodate various types of installations, from small single-site companies to multinational companies.
